Koinobori and Fuji Q

 Golden Week was a few weeks back where most Japanese took vacations and all the school kids were off from school. Golden week celebrates children and to do this, the Japanese hang Koi fish streamers "Koinobori" everywhere.  We heard they had over 2000 down at the Sagami river so off we went to check them out. 

The river was packed with people camping, BBQing and playing in the river.

The water was chilly but that didn't keep us from wading in. 

Her BFF Ava tagged along as well and the three girls had a ball playing under the Koinoboris. 

Random yes, but my squadron launched 7 aircraft at the same time to get a formation flight around Mt Fuji. The weather was perfect and it was interesting to be in close proximity to that many spinning helos.

We headed out towards Mt Fuji and stopped at a little historic old town that had spectacular views of Fuji (you can see it poking through the clouds). 

Their koinoboris were still up which got the kids really excited! 

Of course we dressed up. I chose a mighty Samurai. 

And the kids (and Shannon) picked beautiful Kimonos.

Literally, as soon as we stepped out of the dress-up house, people started snapping photos as if we were famous.

They sometimes like each other. 

The two things they liked the best were feeding the fish in the pond...

And ice cream! 

Then it was on to Fuji Q theme park where they had Thomas Land.

We rode a lot of cool rides.

LC was actually a really good driver steering this thing around. E was in charge of the horn. 

The clouds finally cleared and we were able to see Mt Fuji really well. 

We've been having a good Spring and have a few more trips planned in the next few weeks. We hope everyone is doing well.
