I have been holding off on doing a post -mainly because I don't feel like I have anything interesting to say. Especially following Ryan's posts about meeting with village chiefs, mine feel a bit lame. But I didn't make it through 6 years of college without being able to fluff up some words about nothing, so here we go...
Last Saturday I did the 5.5 hour drive down to Myrtle Beach, SC to hang out with my family and for a change of scenery. For most people, the beach is a wonderful place that one can't bear to leave. I am, of course, not most people. I enjoyed shopping at the outlets more than walking by the water, but this is just my taste and is no reflection on Myrtle Beach. The weather was lovely and it was great to spend some QT with my dad, Valerie and Mason. I did not take pictures (Ryan is the photographer of the family), though Valerie does have one of me rocking the two piece. I would post it but then you would never check this blog again and/or you would never stop with the Free Willy beached whale comments.
Speaking of beached whales, I believe my size is beginning to make people nervous. A gentleman (actually let's just call him a man, because it was not a gentlemanly thing to say) at the beach said, "Great day, I hope you brought your doctor with you because you look like you about to split open." Split open?! Add that to the list of things NOT to say to a pregnant lady (I have quite the list too if you are ever interested).
Another very exciting detail is that I am typing and sending this out AT HOME! For whatever reason, the USB cellular internet thingy with the huge antenna in the window is working beautifully and I have been able to get on and use the Internet all day! I even got to Skype Ryan with it, which is really fun. He got to see Sasha and Panda and a small sample of his daughter's already extensive wardrobe. Yall just wait til she's born, THEN I will be posting some beautiful pics of our already spoiled princess.
I am 35 weeks today, so officially 5 more to go. Next week, when I hit 36, she will no longer be considered premature if she were to enter the world. However, I still explain to her daily that she will ruin a lot of plans if she comes any other day except October 25th. If she takes after me, she will follow directions and behave beautifully... if she takes after Ryan, Lord help us!
In my continued quest to prepare for this thing growing inside of me, I had TWO classes this week. The first was a Baby Care class on Wednesday, which was really informative. I learned how to swaddle, bathe, change, and medicate a baby. They also showed pictures of scary looking newborns and told us it was 'normal' for them to appear that way and therefore not to freak out. I will probably NOT be posting any pictures of Princess until she grows out of that awkward 'first 24 hours' stage (YIKES!). The second class was round 2 of my Preparing for Childbirth class. Now one of my main concerns is that my water will break at an inopportune time and/or place. But other than that, the class is great and I am learning a lot about what exactly I have gotten myself into.
I will post my 34 and 35 week pictures soon and update this as soon as I have more material. Thanks for checking up on us... so far all is well!
YAY MAMA! you're in the home stretch...I pray you don't have horrible heartburn! Looking forward to the pics of Baby C! Now that I've had a kid, I can handle those first pics! Bring it!
